MapMosh is a free geography game made by a solo developer. It's built to be played instantly — there are no accounts, no passwords, and no email sign-ups. This page explains the little data the game does handle. (This is a plain-language summary you can adapt; it isn't legal advice.)
MapMosh itself does not set any cookies. The anonymous device id is kept in local storage, not a cookie. Our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) may set strictly-necessary cookies at the network level to protect the site; these are not used by MapMosh to track you.
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-first and cookieless. It reports aggregate figures (like page views and rough visitor counts) and does not fingerprint or build a profile of you. The "mapmoshers" counter in the header is simply a tally of unique browsers that have visited.
If you choose to become a Supporter through Ko-fi, your payment is handled by Ko-fi, and Ko-fi passes us the email address you used so we can send your one-time activation link. We do not store your email — it is used once to send that link and then discarded; only a hashed token is kept so the link can be verified. The activation email is delivered by Resend, which transmits the message and does not retain its contents after delivery. Becoming a Supporter adds a ★ badge to your nickname and lets that nickname follow you across devices; it involves no account, password, or cookie.
You can clear MapMosh's data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for mapmosh.win (or using private/incognito mode). This removes your device id; a new one is created next time you play, and previous scores stay on the board under the old nickname but can no longer be changed.
MapMosh is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. Because no personal data is required to play, the game collects none beyond the anonymous id and any nickname you type.
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it.
